case study · urbanist landscaping
Urbanist Landscaping designs and builds outdoor spaces across Tauranga and the Bay of Plenty. We built a website that feels as premium as their work, plus an AI assistant that answers early questions around the clock.

Landscaping is a visual, high-value purchase. Homeowners want to see finished work near them and get a feel for cost before they invite anyone round.
Urbanist needed a site that matches the quality of their builds, shows projects from the Mount to Pāpāmoa, and handles the steady stream of early questions (what to plant, what a deck costs, whether a pergola needs consent) without tying up the team.
Full-bleed garden footage sets the mood in a second, with a pause control for accessibility and a lightweight poster image for slow connections.
Completed projects across Mount Maunganui, Ohauiti, The Lakes, Maungatapu and Pāpāmoa, each with a short story about the brief and the build.
A chat assistant set up to answer questions about Bay of Plenty planting, ballpark costs and council rules, and to hand serious enquiries to a real consultation.
Design, hardscaping, planting and maintenance, each broken into plain-English deliverables so homeowners know exactly what they are buying.
A short, friendly form that goes straight to the team, plus contact details on every page for people who would rather call.
Landscaping-specific structured data with service area, location and opening hours, and page titles built around Tauranga and Bay of Plenty searches.

On a phone, the video hero, headline and consultation button fit on one screen, and the menu opens into a full-screen sheet that is easy to use with one thumb.
Images are sized for each screen, so the portfolio stays sharp on a new iPhone without punishing an older Android on mobile data.

The site is built with semantic HTML and Tailwind CSS, with the AI assistant connected to a hosted language model behind a prompt designed for Bay of Plenty landscaping. Forms are handled by Netlify, and there is no CMS or plugin layer to keep patched.
Urbanist now has a site that looks the part for premium projects, and an assistant that turns “just browsing” into informed, qualified consultation requests.
Homeowners get useful answers straight away, and the team spends their time on site visits instead of repeating the same early answers.
