case study · bay paws

A Tauranga pet-care website where every price is on the page.

Bay Paws is Bianca’s one-on-one dog walking and pet sitting business in Tauranga. We built a website that earns trust quickly, answers the price question up front and makes booking a meet and greet effortless on a phone.

The brief

Pet owners choose a walker on trust and price. Most pet-care sites hide their prices behind a phone call and say little about who will actually turn up at the door.

Bianca needed a site that makes her approach clear (one-on-one walks, never more than two dogs, always her), shows every price without a phone call, and turns a late-night browse into a booked meet and greet.

What we built

Every price published

Walks, visits, extras and the small print, all on the page. No sign-up fees, no surprises, and the same price you see is the price you pay.

Weekly cost calculator

Pick a service, walks per week and number of dogs to see a weekly cost, with a nudge when booking more would unlock the regular-client discount.

Trust, shown not told

An example visit report shows owners exactly what they will receive after every walk: photo, time out, distance, food, water and toilet stops.

Local SEO

Suburb-by-suburb coverage from Bethlehem and Ōtūmoetai to the Mount, structured data for the business, its services and FAQs, and titles that match how locals search.

One-tap contact on mobile

A sticky bar puts Call, Text, WhatsApp and Book under the thumb, which is where most pet owners make the decision.

Light and dark mode

Comfortable to read at 6am or 11pm, and it follows the phone’s own setting by default.

A closer look

The weekly cost calculator answers “what would it cost me?” in seconds, and nudges regular bookings.

Most bookings start on a phone, so the mobile layout leads with the promise, the starting prices and a big booking button, with the contact bar always in reach.

The site is hand-coded with no page builder or plugins, so it loads quickly on a patchy connection at the dog park.

Bay Paws website on a phone

Under the hood

Bay Paws is a hand-coded static site: semantic HTML, modern CSS and a little vanilla JavaScript for the calculator and theme switch. Bookings go through Netlify Forms straight to Bianca’s inbox, with no database to maintain.

The result

Bianca has a site that does the explaining for her: who she is, how she works, what it costs and how to book, in a design that feels as friendly as the service.

Because every price and suburb is on the page, enquiries arrive from the right people in the right areas, already knowing what to expect.
